Hello my Friends!
Loved a talk from Elder Hales from last conference that has helped me so much as a missionary. He spoke on the agency of others. We need to ask the help of the Lord in strengthening ourselves to do His will, not so much asking everyone else to change around us. That is how we become more like Christ. It works with the saying, "Come what may and love it and ACT, and not be ACTED upon."
Something sad is that many people are migrating from Venezuela because of the government and violence in that country. They are leaving a horrible situation. One man we met is a member of the church, was a Bishop in Venezuela and he is helping people immigrate and find houses and for them in our area here in Lima. Some are members of the church and nonmembers too. We are giving service to try and help them too. Their stories are heartbreaking! Some have come here to earn some money by just selling a famous frozen Venezuelan drink on the streets to save money so they can bring over their wife and children. It just kills me to see how humble they are in this situation and yet they are still happy!
The conditions they live in is very miserable and nothing. I have such a stronger testimony of the Gospel to see how they are acting in this situation.
We are teaching English classes and Self Sufficiency classes this week in our stake to help these people. I see them live with much Faith and Prayer, we can see miracles come into their lives. Just amazed by their Faith despite their horrible situations.
Fun Facts:
There are patriotic celebrations this week in Lima, the ward did a night of classic foods in Peru. Still have not acquired a taste for some of the dishes here, they use alot of Mayonnaise on everything. One is a tuna salad on top of a potato dish. Trying.
Its been really weird weather here, HOT days and freezing nights.
love, Elder Foutz
